Kashmir schools reopen after 8 months.
Hearing that most definitely makes me spell-bound, but not for the good. Ain’t that normal? As for me, yes I couldn’t just read it as any other news headline. What about you? Did you just run through those words like any other sentence in English?
Really disconcerting it is to let THE NATIONAL POLITICAL IRONY sink in and come to grips with a fact that nobody actually gives a damn about. That strikes me strongly, as to the state of upheaval and political imbalance our country hosts at the moment. Today, you and me are leisurely living a gala life full of security, support and liberty. How about them?
Imagine, you were to wake up to gunshots everyday and not alarms. Imagine, you were unceremoniously abandoned to rot at home, as though it was a house arrest, and not for days, but for months, the number of which you couldn’t even shake a stick at. That’s called curfew that bounds even your ability to shake a leg. Imagine, you had eyes, two beautiful, new (for young ones), efficient, and wide open, but your freedom was curtailed to the extent of watching the world only via television. When you wanted to see the most sought-after place of INDIA, residing there, and yet largely helpless, unable to even take a gander. What beauty that is, which can’t even be beheld? I bet, that would probably be the time you could write historical, mind-blowing essays about “TV- the worst thing i ever saw”. And nothing wrong about it, because all that your TV must be broadcasting would add fuel to the fire, than icing to your cake, certainly giving you no solace.
When meeting friends would be heaven-wards, school time would be “=life” and freedom would be your ultimate goal. When you would give in to the odds and be a rebel yourself and kill some men out there, just to come back home to see they’ve killed some of yours. When the only thing you’d be able to define would be ‘revolution’, ‘terrorism’ and ‘unhelpful India’. When the world would talk about you, your place, your people and still you’d feel all the more vexed and miffed for the undesired publicity coming home. When INDIA would be watching IPL and you, NDTV or AAJ TAK. When people would be talking about Donald Trump, and you’d be like ”what, who’s trunk…. Donald what??”. When people like us would be appearing for boards, building a career and narrowing down to the best choices, you’d be forced to see only Politics, Mehbooba Mufti your role model and Pakistan your only coveted international destination. THE most bizarre and outlandish-est thought about life, wouldn’t have contemplated, foreseen or for the matter, reached to such an adversity. I know. So, I want you to imagine.
Imagine, you were incarcerated for no warranted crime, scapegoated unreasonably for nothing. An unrest would build up. It’s called DISGRUNTLEMENT. A lot of things would remain bottled up in your mind. Do you feel me?
And finally, a day would arrive, after 8 long, tiring, unbearable months, when you wouldn’t miss going to school for the world. You’d have a rekindled joy about living and no pain, but let me ask you, is it gonna remain?
While India is progressing by leaps and bounds, are we literally counting Kashmir in it? while google has varied representations of India, some excluding Kashmir, have we assumed Kashmir gone?
What sickens me the most is, we are victims but we don’t realize it. We mumbaikars effing know the gossips OF THE WORLD. BUT OF OUR OWN COUNTRY? SORRY, THAT’S OUT OF SYLLABUS ?is it? thats lousy!
I say, silence, to all those who say India is developing. Only Maharashtra, tamil nadu, kerala, west bengal, delhi, gujrat, rajasthan, madhya and uttar pradesh are handful states that are actually the yardstick for determining our success rate.
NEVER DID INDIA SEE THE WHOLE INDIA, NEVER IS IT GOING TO. WE ARE BORN BIASED, PARTIAL AND DISCRIMINATE, AND I DOUBT OF AN IMPENDING CHANGE. INDIA BE LIKE – I GAVE BIRTH TO 100. NEVER WILL IT PUBLICIZE, 100 OF WHICH 99 ARE DEAD. THATS WHAT WE HAVE BEEN DOING. SHOWING WHAT WE WANT TO. AND WE CALL HITLER’S PERSONALIZED, customized NEWS – UNETHICAL. WE’RE DOING JUST THE SAME. ONLY IT IS NOT 1935.
A few days later, I heard about Syrian children. A few days later, some other south-east country. May be I envisaged everything all over again in every few days.
Now, incidentally, I am used to it or may be lets say I’ve adapted.
All i fear about is meeting such a kashmiri war survivor later in life, and hearing the war story from the horse’s mouth. Or seeing such a survivor as my boss?? who knows!
I’M DONE IMAGINING, WHAT ABOUT YOU?
thats me -!-!-!-
